It is our great pleasure to announce that Yael Bartana was chosen to represent Poland in the 54th Venice Biennale taking place this summer. In the planned exhibition for the Biennale, co-curated by Galit Eilat and Sebastian Cichocki, Yael Bartana will feature her film trilogy ...And Europe Will Be Stunned. The trilogy includes the acclaimed films: Mary Koszmary (Nightmares), 2007 and Mur i Wieza (Wall and Tower), 2009, as well as a third and final part that will be realized in the coming months

Yael Bartana Wins Artes Mundi 4
Awarded by the National Museum of Cardiff. Eight international artists were originally shortlisted for the prize, which is one of the largest awarded in the UK. For the competition, Bartana showed Mary Koszmary (Nightmares) and Mur i Wieża (Wall and Tower), two video works from her Polish Trilogy, and an earlier film, A Declaration. The chairman of the jury, Professor Sarat Maharaj, stated, "We live in an age where we are frequently asked to face tribal and territorial concerns and where national and regional boundaries are disputed with devastating consequences. Yael Bartana has continually found inventive strategies to question the abstract idea of a nation's collective identity - a question that is fundamental to the human condition." Mur i Wieża was also awarded both the principal prize by the International Jury and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the 57th Oberhausen Short Film Festival in the beginning of May.

Due to the large turnout, it has been decided to extend Yael Bartana's solo exhibition "If You Want, We'll Travel the the Moon Together" for another week. The show, which was supposed to close tomorrow, will now be open through May 22nd.
